Who doesn’t enjoy fresh vegetables? What about fresh veggies from your own garden? NJ’s frost free dates are in May depending on your location, but don’t let that stop you from sowing cool season vegetable seeds. Even when night temperatures are dipping down into the 30’s and 40’s, it’s time to sow!
More popular cool season direct sow veggies include cauliflower, broccoli, swiss chard, arugula, lettuce, beets, and snap peas. Most other veggies will either require direct sowing after your frost free date, or being started indoors weeks before your frost free date.
Garden pathways, borders, trellis’, pergolas, and fencing all add to the charm and experience of time spent in the garden. Cut flowers, berry plants, and specialty trained fruit trees also add an element of diversity. It takes years to become an experienced vegetable gardener, but those years will reward you with a very satisfying bounty.
Bruno Design Associates can help you design and build your vegetable garden, from simplistic potted patio arrangements, to elaborate garden spaces and backyard orchards.
